Cemetery Plots For Sale at Mount Olivet Cemetery

mtolivetplots2Established in 1856, Mount Olivet Cemetery has been the final resting place for many of Nashville’s most prominent families and political leaders, including Adelicia Acklen of Belmont, the Harding family of Belle Meade Plantation, and Senator John Bell. The beautiful and unique monuments, sculptures, and mausoleums arranged throughout the cemetery speak to the long history of this quiet, historical space. After the Civil War, the women of Nashville raised funds to purchase a plot of land and named it Confederate Circle. This memorial to buried Confederate soldiers is still a focal point of Mount Olivet.

Plots in the historic section of Mount Olivet Cemetery rarely come available to the public. While spaces in newer areas of the cemetery can be purchased through the cemetery’s office, a member of the HNI community has six side-by-side plots for sale in the historic Section 11. Valued at $9,000 each, the plots are located 150 feet behind the Acklen mausoleum and very close to Confederate Circle. A portion of proceeds from the sale of these spaces will go directly to Historic Nashville, Inc.

Individuals interested in these plots can contact Angie Trivett at strivet4@netzero.net or 615-406-4350.
